DISCOVER YOURSELF!

     GO! DISCOVER YOURSELF IN- YELAGIRI

Yes, when I say, "GO! DISCOVER YOURSELF" in a place like Yelagiri, you might wonder what is so special about this place.. but indeed let me tell you that Yelagiri is not just a heavenly and beautiful place to visit but it also hoists a one of its kind institution "INDUS SCHOOL OF LEADERSHIP" where in one can discover one's true personality and potentials.

In 2015, my school organised a trip to Yelagiri. I definitely did not want to miss this opportunity and so I jumped in bubbling with excitement. It was a 4 day trip and we traveled in sleeper buses, though soon we realized that those buses were not actually worth sleeping in. By the time we reached our destination our necks and entire body was sore and weary.

We carried our backpacks and entered the Indus School of leadership. First, there was a bag check in which all our junk food was removed and kept in the store area. We were divided in teams and provided jerseys accordingly. Our trainer was a man with great sense of humour and was very sportive. Then we had our lunch and were taken to our tents which were indeed a challenge to live in. We were given different activities to trigger the leader within us.

The first activity was called "THE KING'S FINGER" which consisted of a tall pillar on which we had to put tires. The main goal was to see that at critical time who can take a good decision and give proper inputs.

We performed the activity and then slept in our scary tents which rattled due to winds. The next morning we went for a trek, which taught us that together as a team we could reach new heights and discover new horizons. The view from above was beyond one's description. Its a moment that is captured in our hearts forever. Later  we cooked food for ourselves with the bare necessities and we actually realized that "TOO MANY COOKS ACTUALLY SPOIL THE BROTH"  because we all had together prepared a weird porridge  but believe me after a long tiring trek it was the best meal we could have had ever.

The next day we performed other activities like the discovery course wearing harnesses, paint ball etc.

This small trip helped me realize my inner potential and that an individual can win but team can conquer. It made me understand that in order to be a leader you need to lead yourself first!
