The glorious Sidhpur

                         THE GLORIOUS SIDHPUR!

Definitely, not your kind of place! that is what you must be thinking... but let me tell you that this place is not just a small town in Gujrat, it has a rich history behind it. This place is my native place -SIDHPUR. This place can be called a masterpiece constructed by Indian artisans.

Sidhpur, a small almost forgotten town of Gujrat, still has a lot to offer to those who seek for  it. I recently visited Sidhpur in November. It was very cold yet pleasant. We stayed in my ancestral house. These houses are more than 100 years old and still intact. The mind boggling work of art performed by the artists on the walls pillars and every brick of the building sets a caliber hard to reach.

These buildings are not some two storey flats but castles! I lived in one such castle built in the time of my great grandfather. The life of the people in this town is quite similar to the people living in other towns of India. But a majority of the population are the dawoodi bohras and the patels. You can actually get lost in the streets seeing the gigantic  castles  that are richly decorated by show pieces from Ethiopia and velvety carpets from Abeceania.

If you are a fan of ghost stories and paranormal activity then this place is definitely for you. Stories passed down the generations which are so much more thrilling to hear sitting in a place like Sidhpur.

The cotton material is what it is famous for. The fruits and vegetables available in their markets are fresh and juicier than what we get in our cities. It would be my pleasure to recommend you the eatables which you must try if you visit Sidhpur are :

First: Makla's Chana batata which is actually so very tasty and spicy.

Second: Lalumal's Lassi which is fresh and creamy and everything yummy.

third: Bamboat's Ice cream weird name but amazing ice cream believe me!

Just like the other forgotten places of India, this place has actually not achieved the recognition it deserves. Yet slowly it has turned the interests of celebrities and tourists towards itself. The hindi film Raees is shot in Sidhpur.  So, atleast once in your life, do visit the glorious Sidhpur!!!
